Distress helpline for Women in intercaste , interfaith marriege to be launched in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra government will launch a distress helpline within the next 15 days for women in interfaith or intercaste marriages, Women and Child Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said Wednesday

For women who are in distress, and who are in interfaith or intercaste marriages, can reach this helpline asking for any kind of help that is required, and the government will provide such help immediately,” Minister Lodha said.

A committee has been formed to set up the same . Its a great initiative as far as women safety is concerned as they are ignored by their families in case of Inter caste or inter faith marriage and do suffer abuse .Maharshtra Women Police helpline number 022-22633333, 22620111 or Maharashtra Women helpline 022-26111103, 1298 , 103 can be reached out in distress till this dedicated helpline is launched .

We hope other states also follow such initiatives.
