In an effort to reduce it Government of India is actively working to curb such incident.
From enhancing penalty on offenses on road , government has now working to integrate automatic camera based challan system across major crossing across country . Traffic challan crossed over 5 lakh last month in U.T of Delhi after such camera were installed at various main crossing
It is also inferred that around 30% of issued driving license are fake , and in a step to reduce that automated driver testing at examination centre ( and same was implimented in Delhi ) , where in under pilot project more than 70% drivers failed the test .
1033 National Highway helpline is in place and efforts are being made to spread awareness
Private organization like Maruti Suzuki Ltd and Times Now are working to spread awareness on Road safety by constantly helping awareness campaign by name Indian Road safety Mission
